Which course should I start with?
If you're new to PLCs, start with the Foundation course for your platform — CIC-SP-101 for Small PLC Systems or CIC-LX-101 for Logix Systems. From there, choose the Maintenance and Troubleshooting pathway if your job is keeping plant running, or the Programming and Development pathway if you'll be writing and structuring PLC applications. If you're unsure, send an enquiry and we'll recommend a starting point.
How is the training delivered?
Courses use progressive ladder-logic exercises and practical trainer work, matched to the course level. The maintenance pathway focuses on diagnosis and recovery; the programming pathway develops application-building skills. Discuss the equipment, class arrangements and preparation for your chosen delivery with CIC.
Which PLC platforms and software do the courses cover?
Small PLC Systems — SLC 500, MicroLogix and Micro800. The training progression starts with RSLogix 500 for SLC 500 and MicroLogix, then moves to Connected Components Workbench (CCW) and FactoryTalk Design Workbench (FTDW) for supported Micro800 controllers. Logix Systems — CompactLogix and ControlLogix. The training progression covers RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 Logix Designer. The software version used depends on the controller and its firmware. The controller families describe the stream. Equipment and software used are specific to each course; ask CIC which controllers and software you’ll use.
Where is the training held?
Courses run in Sydney, with venue details confirmed when you book. Private plant training can be delivered at your site, built around your own equipment, programs and maintenance problems.
When are the next course dates?
Every published date shows its current registration status. An open shared week can be selected for an eligible Maintenance and Troubleshooting course; once assigned, it appears only for that course. CIC reviews course fit and sends the invoice or payment link. A place is secured when the required deposit is received. Foundation and programming course dates are arranged on enquiry.
How much does a course cost?
See the course fee section on the individual course page, or call CIC for the current per-person fee before registering. Employers can book staff onto the same public five-day courses. Private plant training is scoped and priced by proposal.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes — participants receive a CIC certificate of completion.
Can training be tailored to our plant?
Yes. The Private Plant Training Programme is customised around your equipment, your programs and the maintenance problems your team actually faces, delivered on site where practical.
