  • Experienced maintenance technicians on Logix plant
  • Site leads responsible for recovery after failures

Logix Systems

CompactLogix and ControlLogix

CIC’s Logix training stream focuses on the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix platform. These controllers are used on individual machines as well as connected production lines and plant systems. Choose this stream if you or your team work with these controllers or need to develop Logix-platform skills.

The training progression covers RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 Logix Designer. The software version used depends on the controller and its firmware.

Before you start

Recommended: CIC-LX-M201 or solid Logix troubleshooting experience.

New to this platform? Start with CIC-LX-101Legacy-to-Studio Foundations, or call CIC about your experience.

Maintaining existing machinery and developing applications are separate pathways. Compare the pathways if your responsibilities differ.

Choose your platform first, then the course level that matches your experience and responsibilities. You do not need to complete the Small PLC stream before starting Logix.

Not sure which stream fits? Tell CIC the PLC model or software used on your site and we’ll help you choose.

Practical outcomes

What you will practise

  • Work multi-cause fault scenarios with a structured diagnostic process
  • Practise failed-system recovery involving firmware and program loads
  • Work with backups and restore points during recovery exercises
  • Diagnose network and communications issues around Logix controllers

Why this is useful at work

For you as a learner

Work through complex controller and communications faults, backups and restore points.

For your maintenance or engineering team

Build a more disciplined approach to complex Logix faults and restoring a known-good system.

Practical learning

Connect the logic to the equipment

Work through the course outcomes using progressive ladder-logic exercises and practical trainer work. Relate the application to its inputs, outputs and connected devices, with opportunities to discuss your approach with the instructor.
